Very bitter mouth taste Tastes like quinine or some other bitter bark or fruit; Diarrhea started on Thursday 5/12 around midday and has gotten progressively worse: increased frequency/urgency and more liquid; This spontaneous case was reported by an other health care professional and describes the occurrence of DYSGEUSIA (Very bitter mouth taste Tastes like quinine or some other bitter bark or fruit) and DIARRHOEA (Diarrhea started on Thursday 5/12 around midday and has gotten progressively worse: increased frequency/urgency and more liquid) in a 44-year-old female patient who received mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (batch nos. 05/F21A, 0212B21A and EXP001B21A) for COVID-19 vaccination. Co-suspect product included non-company product TOZINAMERAN (PFIZER BIONTECH COVID-19 VACCINE) for COVID-19 treatment. Concurrent medical conditions included Asthma, Anxiety (General) and Sulfonamide allergy (sulfa antibiotics). Concomitant products included FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE, SALMETEROL XINAFOATE (ADVAIR) from 20-Mar-2022 to 10-May-2022, MIRTAZAPINE, LORATADINE, NIMODIPINE (NORTON), ACETAMINOPHEN from 10-May-2022 to 13-May-2022 and FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE from 10-Apr-2022 to 10-May-2022 for an unknown indication. In March 2021, the patient received first dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (unknown route) 1 dosage form. In April 2021, received second dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (unknown route) dosage was changed to 1 dosage form. In November 2021, received third dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (unknown route) dosage was changed to 1 dosage form. On 10-May-2022, the patient received dose of TOZINAMERAN (PFIZER BIONTECH COVID-19 VACCINE) (unknown route) 1 dosage form. On 13-May-2022, received dose of TOZINAMERAN (PFIZER BIONTECH COVID-19 VACCINE) (unknown route) dosage was changed to 1 dosage form. On 11-May-2022, the patient experienced DYSGEUSIA (Very bitter mouth taste Tastes like quinine or some other bitter bark or fruit) and DIARRHOEA (Diarrhea started on Thursday 5/12 around midday and has gotten progressively worse: increased frequency/urgency and more liquid). The patient was treated with BISMUTH SUBSALICYLATE (PEPTO-BISMOL) in May 2022 for Diarrhea, at an unspecified dose and frequency. At the time of the report, DYSGEUSIA (Very bitter mouth taste Tastes like quinine or some other bitter bark or fruit) and DIARRHOEA (Diarrhea started on Thursday 5/12 around midday and has gotten progressively worse: increased frequency/urgency and more liquid) had not resolved. For mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (Unknown), the reporter did not provide any causality assessments. The patient took any other medications/products within 2 weeks of starting COVID-19 treatment. Patient previously received a COVID-19 Vaccine. It was reported that Hospitalization prolonged was reported as NO. It was reported that very bitter mouth taste started with second dose in the morning of 5/11 and has gotten more prominent. In peaks around 3-4 hours post-dose, then declines till right before the next dose (though still perceivable). Device Date: 13May2022.
