2/03/2021: Patient stated shortness of breath and generalized weakness on admission. Patient started on Azithromycin 500 mg every 24 hours for 2 days, Ceftriaxone 2g every 24 hours for 2 days, and Acetaminophen 1000 mg once followed by acetaminophen 650 mg for 2 days. 2/04/2021: Patient diagnosed with pneumonia attributed to aerobic bacteria although no cultures were obtained. COVID and Influenza PCR negative. 2/05/2021: Patient discharged with no new prescriptions.

Within about 45 minutes of receiving the vaccine I started getting mild hives spreading around the injection site and across my belly. I had mild wheezing and feeling of loose fluid in my brachial area of my chest. Now at 24 hr out, hives are head to toe, and I took diphenhydramine at bedtime in addition to my loratadine each AM. I've used my inhaler twice to see if that helped - it doesn't, so it's not a regular asthma attack. Today I have intermittently dealt with mild sweats, moderate chills, mild nausea, shakes (might be the inhaler as that sometimes makes me shake), headache fluxing between mild to moderate, eyes watering and lids swollen slightly with hives, injection site soreness, swelling about the diameter of a softball (interfering with ROM on left arm - I am an interpreter, so this interfered with work a lot today!), left arm from shoulder to elbow is hot to the touch, and I have had mild disconnects with my ability to focus/breaks in completing thoughts today. I am keeping my EpiPens close, just in case. I live 3 miles to the nearest ER, and someone is here with me just in case I need to go.

No but I did call pharmacy and it was suggested to take Benadryl, apply steroid cream, and ice. Call doctor if it gets worse. I plan on calling the doctor today (11/30) to get in just in case.

Itching of the calves; Left arm was sore; This spontaneous case was reported by a consumer and describes the occurrence of PRURITUS (Itching of the calves) and INJECTION SITE PAIN (Left arm was sore) in a 67-year-old male patient who received mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (batch no. 0011M20A) for COVID-19 vaccination. The patient's past medical history included Hypertension since an unknown date and Cholesterol (High) since an unknown date. On 08-Feb-2021, the patient received first dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (Intramuscular) 1 dosage form. On 08-Feb-2021, the patient experienced PRURITUS (Itching of the calves) and INJECTION SITE PAIN (Left arm was sore). On 09-Feb-2021, INJECTION SITE PAIN (Left arm was sore) had resolved. At the time of the report, PRURITUS (Itching of the calves) had not resolved. Not Provided The action taken with mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (Intramuscular) was unknown. About 24 hours after the vaccine, my symptoms became much worse. My fever spiked to 103.3 and I had a severe headache, nausea, and muscle stiffness. My lips also swelled and chapped. After another 24 hours passed, I developed a rash on the lower part of my neck which has spread downward and covered the rest of my body now. As well, my tongue has become very sensitive and sore and has red streaks and tiny white bumps towards the back. After my first dose, I did have a higher fever and headache but not nearly as bad as the second time. I did have COVID in December 2020 but only had a fever of 101-102 and fatigue for a couple of days.

Swelling, redness, and soreness at injection site for 3-4 days before subsiding. Woke up on the morning of the 9th day with major itching and redness. Using a cortisone cream for relief, yet symptoms are still apparent.

Symptomtext

At 11:40 patient comes in the vaccination area. Initial screening is done as routine for patients receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The patient states he feels well and is not allergic to anything. In his intake we see he stated the same as he told the staff. The second dose of the COVI-19 vaccine was given at 11:45am, in his left deltoid. Patient reports he feels well and no complications at the time of vaccination. He is asked to wait in the 15min area. After 11 minutes, the patient refers he has a rash in his abdominal area, which he states due to two Panadol tablets he had prior to vaccination. Physical exam revealed two red areas on his abdomen that are also itchy. When interviewed for a second time he admits he had the rash before the vaccine, but he did not mentioned it to the nursing staff. Patient is moved to the are where the paramedic staff was.
