stabbing pains; ringing noise in her ears; chills; Nausea; fever; This spontaneous case was reported by a consumer and describes the occurrence of PAIN (stabbing pains), TINNITUS (ringing noise in her ears), CHILLS (chills), NAUSEA (Nausea) and PYREXIA (fever) in a 77-year-old female patient who received mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (batch no. 702195-013L20A) for COVID-19 vaccination. The patient's past medical history included No adverse event (no historical condition was reported). On 15-Jan-2021, the patient received first dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (Intramuscular) 1 dosage form. On 15-Jan-2021, the patient experienced PAIN (stabbing pains), TINNITUS (ringing noise in her ears), CHILLS (chills), NAUSEA (Nausea) and PYREXIA (fever). On 17-Jan-2021, PAIN (stabbing pains), TINNITUS (ringing noise in her ears), CHILLS (chills), NAUSEA (Nausea) and PYREXIA (fever) had resolved. Chills Nausea Pyrexia Tinnitus Vomiting

Symptomtext

Blinking/shuttering noise in her brain; Vomiting; Nausea; Chills; Fever; A spontaneous report was received from a consumer concerning a 77-year old, female patient who received Moderna's COVID-19 Vaccine (mRNA-1273) and experienced vomiting, nausea, chills, fever and blinking/shuttering noise in brain. The patient's medical history was not provided. No relevant concomitant medications were reported. On 15 Jan 2020, approximately 12 hours prior to the onset of the events, the patient received their first of two planned doses of mRNA-1273 (lot number 702195013L20A) intramuscularly in the right arm for prophylaxis of COVID-19 infection. On 16 Jan 2020, about 12 hours following vaccine administration, the patient experienced vomiting, nausea, chills and fever that lasted for 48 hours. She also began hearing a blinking/shuttering noise in her brain. Treatment for the event included paracetamol, ibuprofen, and emetrol. Action taken with mRNA-1273 in response to the events was not reported. The events vomiting, nausea, chills and fever, were resolved on 18 Jan 2021. The outcome of the event blinking/shuttering noise in brain was unknown.; Reporter's Comments: This case concerns 77-year old, female patient who experienced non-serious expected events of vomiting, nausea, chills, fever and non-serious unexpected event of blinking/shuttering noise in brain. The events occurred about 12 hours after the first dose of mRNA-1273 vaccine. Treatment for the events included paracetamol, ibuprofen, and emetrol. Vomiting, nausea, chills, fever resolved, however outcome of blinking/shuttering noise in brain was reported as unknown. All events were assessed as related to mRNA-1273 vaccine due to temporal association.
