No issues during 15 minute observation period after receiving the vaccine. So I left the facility to go to my car. Then about 15 minutes later my face started to get really hot with slight swelling. Then after several more minutes throat became tight and started to experience extreme difficulty swallowing. I was still in the parking lot so I immediately went back inside to the vaccination area asking for help. I did not experience any breathing difficulties during the entire time but did experience extreme difficulty with swallowing and throat tightening. The staff did the usual checks. I was not too awarre of all the things they did but I was given a benedryl tablet which I was able to swallow thankfully. I was told my vitals were very high. Not sure of exact times but sometime shortly after the benedryl things started to fell better. The throat/swallowing started to get better. Face burning started to cool. Stayed in this area for about 20 or 30 more minutes and then told I could go with a comment that I should see my doctor about my high blood pressure. Which I explained I do not have high blood pressure and when checked later in the day it was back to my usual 115 - 125 range . I was concerned about getting the second shot later and was told to take a benedryl either just before I get the next shot or right after.?????? After checking the online cdc guidelines that does not jive at all.
