Symptomtext
I woke up with petechiae on 5/10. By 5/11 the petechiae developed into thrombocytopenia purpura with a platelet count fo 1000, including mouth lesions and prolonged mucosal bleeding. Admitted Hospital for treatment on 5/11. Treatment included a high dose of oral dexomethasone for four days, IVIG transfusion for two days, and a single platelet transfusion. Fluid developed in the lungs, but that was determined to be a byproduct of treatment, and not part of the adverse reaction. By the time of discharge on 5/14, platelet count had risen to 88000. One week later at outpatient, platelet count had risen to 180000.
