Symptomtext

Pt was vaccinated with the above vaccines on 2/2. He tolerated well initially after the immunizations. On 2/21, parents noted eye drainage and bleeding, nose bleeding and dots on the skin. They presented to the PCP who had labs drawn and noted thrombocytopenia. He was sent to Hospital where is platelet count was 0. He was diagnosed with ITP. No recent history of illness that would preceed ITP, so there is a likely possibility that it was a reaction to the vaccines received. Hematology was consutled. He was given two doses of IVIG and started on a steroid burst and was discharged with outpatient hematology follow up with his platelet count at 1. During his admission, he had prolonged bleeding after labs draws and had multiple nose bleeds. There was no concern for acute intracranial bleeding. Parents were given precautions given his platelet count was still extremely low.

Symptomtext

Mother called MD on 10.16.2021 and reported that child had been complaining of leg pain on and off since vaccination and is limping today.. She was going to preschool and was still active these past 2 weeks. Upon examination in the clinic, the left hip was guarding so full range of motion could not be obtained. At the emergency room, blood work, xray of pelvis and ultrasound were obtained. C rective protein was 5.7. Moderate simple appearing left hip joint effusion was found on ultrasound. Ibuprofen was given. Child recovered quickly and completely within a few days.

No additional information available or provided.; VARIVAX was reconstituted and then stored in the refrigerator for 2 or 3 hours before being administered to a patient.; This spontaneous report was received from an office manager and refers to a patient of unknown age and gender. No information regarding the patient's concurrent conditions, medical history, drug reactions or allergies and concomitant medications was provided. On 11-NOV-2021, the patient was vaccinated with varicella virus vaccine live (oka/merck)(VARIVAX) 0.5 milliliter, lot # U007472, expiration date: 08-MAR-2023 (dose number and route of administration were not reported) for prophylaxis. The dose of the vaccine was reconstituted and then stored in the refrigerator for 2 or 3 hours before being administered to the patient (wrong technique in product usage process). No additional adverse events were reported (no adverse event). No additional information available or provided.
