Symptomtext

Patient presented the day after being given vaccines with fever , irritability and bulging fontanelle . Patient was admitted to Hospital for observation. CBC , blood culture and urine studies were normal. LP was attempted and failed . Ultrafast brain MRI was normal except for incidental arachnoid cyst - 11 mm in size. Patient defervesced without additional treatment and was discharged in stable condition after 24 hrs.

improperly stored ROTATEQ administered to patient; no adverse event; This spontaneous report was received from a nurse and refers to a patient of unknown age and gender. The patient's medical history, concurrent conditions and concomitant therapies were not reported. On an unknown date, the patient was administered an improperly stored dose of rotavirus vaccine, live, oral, pentavalent (ROTATEQ) (Lot# U026663, expiration date: 09-FEB-2023, route unknown), administered for prophylaxis. The nurse reported that the vaccine was incorrectly stored for 24 minutes at a temperature of 0.3 Celsius degrees. There was no previous temperature excursion. The patient experienced no adverse event. Caller gave permission to be contacted in the future regarding the event. No further information provided.
