Symptomtext
I gave the patient the Flu shot and after about 5 minutes she came out of the room and said her tongue was numb. She went in to use the restroom and when she came out her tongue was now swollen. I grabbed the FNP and went and got an epi-pen and some Benadryl. The FNP gave the pt the Benadryl and gave it a few minutes to see if that would work so we wouldn't have to use the epi pen. After about 10 minutes after taking the Benadryl the swelling went down and the patient said her tongue no longer felt numb. The patient was cleared to leave after waiting a total of 15 minutes after taking the Benadryl.
