Symptomtext

Patient presented to pharmacy for flu and COVID vaccines. COVID BV booster was administered in left arm; Flu vaccine was administered in right arm. Immediately following flu vaccine, patient fainted, fell onto the ground, and remained unconscious for ~10 seconds. Patient hit his knee resulting in a bump, his face resulting in a small scratch below his left eye, and bit his tongue. Patient remained seated at pharmacy for 20 minutes following event. Pharmacist provided ice pack, water, crackers, and lollipop.

Cough Swelling of eyelid Urticaria

Symptomtext

Patient presented to office at 0830 AM for shot visit with no recent health concerns. Tolerated shots prior well. Given Pentacel, Prevnar, Fluzone #2 and Rotavirus vaccines ~ 0840 without issues. Returned to office at 11:40 with report of rapid onset facial and upper body hives with mild cough; onset ~ 11:10. Upon arrival, mild swelling to lower right eyelid with visible hives to the face and neck area which resolved within 10 minutes of arrival. Mild cough without diffuse facial/lip/tongue swelling, no wheezing. Alert and appropriate. Within 15 minutes of arrival, symptoms resolved without medication.

Symptomtext

Within the hour after receiving the flu shot in my left arm, my shoulder became painful with active movement. Specifically, abduction of the left shoulder caused severe pain even with passive movement. This pain was significant for several days to the point that I was unable to use my left arm to do anything. Opening the car door, driving, getting into bed, putting on clothing was painful. Symptoms improved gradually so that I am able to use my arm, but I am not able to work out yet. Range of motion is still limited by pain 2 weeks after the vaccine. Treatment has included advil, ice, and rest.
