I donate blood regularly. After being vaccinated the second time, I got paperwork from the Facility that said they had tested my blood and found an elevated level of something indicating that I could have syphilis. The Facility banned me from donating saying that I had to go get a blood test proving that I am not infected. I visited my doctor, got a full blood workup which came back negative for syphilis. A couple of weeks later, the Facility sent a notice to me saying that they had trouble filtering my blood for the past several times and the reason is that I have cold agglutinin disease, which causes my blood to thicken when it cools. I have been a donor since high school and have never had either issue arise before now.
