20 Days post Covid 19 updated vaccine booster I developed abdominal pain (7/10 pain rating) and went to ER. I was 14 weeks 5 days pregnant at the time (estimated due date of April 14 2023). Ultrasound could not detect appendix due to pregnancy, so an MRI was ordered. MRI confirmed acute appendicitis and an appendectomy was performed and antibiotics administered. The MRI report also noted an enlarged spleen though no clinical follow up was performed. Fetal heart tones were confirmed after surgery and follow up with OB will occur due to surgical intervention during pregnancy. Not sure if it is vaccine related but appendicitis is now listed under serious adverse events under the vaccine so I wanted to report.
