Syncope

Symptomtext

Vasovagal syncope in parking lot outside of medical clinic ~15 minutes after vaccine given. No head injury or other injury. Full recovery within 15-30 minutes. Brought back into clinic and recovery occurred in exam room.

Symptomtext

Pt states shot was given too high on her arm. She started 6 days later with pain to the left shoulder joint. She is unable to raise her arm laterally above 85 degrees and anteriorly to 45 degrees only. No pain, weakness, or numbness. Has pain with movement of left arm and even if sitting still. xray has been ordered and NSAIDS started. Pt seen today 10/3 for the first time. Has significant pain and limitations to movement.

Red, welts/hives all on her sides, hips, lower back, upper arms, and shoulders. NO angioedema or hives on the face. Airway is fine, employee at home recovering. Employee took Benadryl and had Cortisone cream on hand for the hives. Employee health will call employee tomorrow for assessment

Mother called clinic ~22 hours after vaccine was administered and reports softball size redness and warmth on patients arm around vaccination site and reports child denies any pain or other symptoms at this time. ~48 hours after vaccine was administered spoke with mother again; softball size redness and warmth continues, child now complains of pain and itching at site. Mother gave child OTC ibuprofen and Benadryl, plans to alternate cold and warm compress
