Symptomtext

Patient recived first dose of Pfizer COVID vaccine on 3/18. Patient admitted to hospital at later date. Patient was complaining of difficulty breathing and exacerbation of ALS symptoms. Patient tested positive for COVID in our ER. Patient was also enrolled in trial evaluating experiment drug for ALS. Medication is called Zilucoplan. Patient did not qualify for any COVID specific treatments. Patient did receive antibiotics. Patient was discharged in stable condition with plans to follow up with his ALS treatment team.

Symptomtext

Approximately 28min after vaccine administration, pt. was noted to have red/swollen face & SOB. Pt reported hx of severe asthma. Epi pen administered by clinic RN and pt took own albuterol inhaler at 1322. 911 called. pt reported some improvement of SOB after meds, but continued w/cough and increased work of breathing. VS showed tachycardia and hypertension after epi administration. Pt reported improvements in face swelling and throat tightness after epi administration but still appeared to have labored and tachypneic breathing despite O2 sats 98-100%. Pt placed on 2L O2 via face mask to decrease work of breathing. Pt remained A&O, but developed rigors after epi administration. Paramedics and EMS arrived at approx 1328. Pt was subsequently transported to ED for further eval per EMS report.

Symptomtext

March of 2023 noticed enlarged bilateral cervical lymph nodes and one enlarged supraclavicular node on right side. Watched it for 1 month with no noticeable change in size. Went to PCP who ordered round of Augmentin x 10 days-no significant change, then round of doxycycline for 10 days, also with no noticeable change. I requested a CT scan since I am a registered nurser and was very concerned. CT scan indicated increase in size of cervical, mediastinal, and supraclavicular nodes, as well as and nodes. Next step PET scan which showed same, fine needle biopsy, then surgical biopsy with diagnosis of sarcoidosis. had a series of 4 shots in trials becoming increasingly ill with each successive injection.
