The patient reported that last Thursday she got the Pfizer COVID Vaccine at 3:30 in the afternoon. She is calling to report an event her daughter said she should call. The nurse who administered her shot gave it to her high in her upper left shoulder, at the top. She further explained that the vaccine was administered too high, into her bursa sac into her shoulder, into her rotator cuff. The nurse stood as she gave it to her. Her arm is tingling and has been tingling since the shot. She is a hair stylist and working the past 3 days has been uncomfortable and disturbing while doing hair. Her arm won't stop tingling. She has numbness down her whole arm all the way to her fingers, its almost unusable. It is usable but, uncomfortable. She dropped her comb 8 times yesterday. Her daughter told her to call and report this. She doesn't know how many other people this person did this to. She has no information about healthcare professional (HCP) she would like to provide at this time. She reported that the nurse jammed the needle in there and the caller looked up at her and she was like, "oh my goodness", because she could tell right away the vaccine was way too high in. Within 2 -5 minutes after administration, her arm went tingly all the way to the bottom. She thought initially maybe that was normal, like a cold feeling, but then it got worse. She clarifies this happened while she was sitting for her 15 minutes waiting, it was tingly, she thought maybe it was normal. She waited her 15 minutes and she left. The next day, 16Apr2021 she was extremely tired, she slept all day and night. She had no other issues, no headache, nothing else. The tiredness went away 17Apr2021. She is good to go, no longer tired. Her arm is still tingling today and has a sore shoulder. She did take a picture of her shoulder, her daughter circled where she got the shot. The patient explained that you are supposed to put three fingers on the bone at top of the shoulder to measure where to give the shot and where the pinky finger wiggles is where the vaccine should be given. However, she got her shot way up high, by the bone. She did ask her daughter and her daughter said the tingling eventually should go away unless they hit a nerve of something. No treatment yet. It's only been 5 days of numbness and tingling in her shoulder/arm. Reporter mentioned that there were 100s of people there to get the shot. She has another appointment on 06May2021 at 10:10am to get her 2nd Pfizer COVID Vaccine. She was told by her daughter who teaches about the shot and is a director for 7 urgent cares, that the shot was given too high into her bursa sac into her rotator cuff. The caller hopes that her hand/arm stops tingling because she has to do haircuts today. She cuts with her right hand but holds her comb with her left hand. So, she can work but its very awkward- she dropped her comb 8 times yesterday. It's like her fingers fall asleep. It's been tingling ever since. She is hoping it goes way. At first she was scared but, now she is just irritated. There were no relevant tests done. The events did not result in visit to physician office or emergency room.
