Patient tested positive for COVID on 6/14. He was seen in the ED on 6/15 for worsening shortness of breath and cough. He was provided supplemental oxygen in the ED, and ultimately admitted to the hospital from 6/15-6/29. This meets criteria for vaccine breakthrough case review.

Fatigue Headache Influenza like illness Nausea Pain Pain in extremity

Flu like systems; Headache; Body aches; Fatigue; Nausea; Painful arm; This is a spontaneous report from a contactable consumer, the patient. A 46-year-old non-pregnant female patient received the first dose of BNT162b2 (PFIZER-BIONTECH COVID-19 mRNA VACCINE; Lot Number: Eng6203) via an unspecified route of administration in the right arm on 03Mar2021 at 07:45 (at the age of 46-years-old) as a single dose for COVID-19 immunisation. The medical history included diabetes, fibromyalgia, allergy to opioids and the patient was a breast cancer survivor. Prior to the vaccination, the patient was not diagnosed with COVID-19. The patient did not receive any other vaccines within four weeks prior to the COVID-19 vaccine. The concomitant medications included metformin (MANUFACTURER UNKNOWN), atorvastatin (MANUFACTURER UNKNOWN), losartan potassium (LOSARTIN) and atenolol (MANUFACTURER UNKNOWN), all from unknown dates for unknown indications and unknown if ongoing. The patient previously received tetracycline (MANUFACTURER UNKNOWN), morphine (MANUFACTURER UNKNOWN) and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (AUGMENTIN) and experienced allergy. On 03Mar2021 at 13:00, the patient experienced flu like symptoms, headache, body aches, fatigue, nausea and painful arm. The adverse events did not result in doctor or other healthcare professional office/clinic visit and emergency room/department or urgent care. Therapeutic measures were not taken as a result of the reported events. Since the vaccination, the patient had not been tested for COVID-19. The clinical outcome of the events flu like symptoms, headache, body aches, fatigue, nausea and painful arm was recovering at the time of this report. No follow-up attempts are needed. No further information is expected.

I wasn't sure if I should report this or not. I mentioned I get intermittent muscle spasms in my leg that aren't even bad enough to complain to my doctor or anything. The night of the first injection I was in bed and a spasm started. I started to get up and it was horrible- it went thru my ***entire*** left leg - the front and the back and the top and the bottom - the entire leg. I never had anything like that before and since. And it hurt badly. I considered asking my husband to call someone but I went into the bathroom - actually dragging that leg for the most part - and tried putting heat on via my hairdryer. It actually made it worse which is the opposite of what should happen when I usually get anything like that. Then I tried putting on this salve we use for such things made from Arnica called ArnicareCream. It actually helped the spasms completely and I had to keep it bent while the salve worked itself in - then I could at least walk it off the rest of the way and went back to bed with no issues. I didn't report it to my doctor or anything because I thought maybe it had nothing to do with the shot. Plus no one else was reporting anything like that - it wasn't in the list of possible side effects. But it scared me a lot. I'm only reporting it now because a woman not all that far from us was paralyzed by the shot about 10 hrs later I think (not the same day and date) and it sounded somewhat similar in a weird way. It's like the shot "knows" what the bad parts of your body are and hones right in on it. I did not expect to have any issues either. But it seemed much to coincidental that this happened so far only once in my life and on the night of the first shot. Another minor issue was that my left harm hurt when she jabbed it (second shot did not) and I experienced no pain at all in the arm until a few weeks after the **second** shot which I didn't report. It still intermittently hurts but it feels like it's more related to when I overcarry items, etc. So again, that might not be anything. Plus I'm at the age where I have rudiments of arthritis most likely. But the first item was really way out of league with anything I've ever had.

Vorgeschichte: Diagnosed December 2020 with high BP - started Lisinopril immediately then. Born with some form of torticollis, underwent neck operation in the early 1950's. Appears successful since I walk straight. Have flat feet. I was hit by a car in the 1980's and it destroyed muscles in my legs and took years for feeling to come back in my calves. I still have some issues with my left leg - particularly my flat feet seem to have never recovered mostly in my left leg. I've been in and out of PT and wearing arch supports. I get intermittent muscle spasms now in bed if my legs are cold (e.g. the overhead fan is on, etc.) but none that are that bad.. I just get up and try to walk it off.

Symptomtext

Right elbow became inflamed, red, warm and painful. Right upper arm was sore. Became dizzy at 11 AM on 3/2 and slept for 3 hours. All expect the inflamed elbow were not a surprise. I treated my elbow with an ice pack during the day on 3/2 and by 3/4 it had improved. By 3/5 it was no longer inflamed, red or warm, but is still tender to lean on. I informed my doctor's office of this.
