Symptomtext

Patient stated she started having pain in her left arm not too long after receiving her vaccine. She states she is having trouble raising her arm above her head and reaching behind her back. Patient states she has been using small weights to try to build up her endurance. She did not state she has tried anything else.

Arthralgia Chills Pain Pyrexia

Symptomtext

Fever; Chills; total body aches; joint pain and then the joint pain localized into both hands; This case was reported by a pharmacist via call center representative and described the occurrence of fever in a 51-year-old female patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingrix) (batch number N7NP4, expiry date 9th April 2023) for prophylaxis. On 22nd December 2021, the patient received the 2nd dose of Shingrix .5 ml. On 23rd December 2021, 1 days after receiving Shingrix, the patient experienced fever, chills, general body pain and joint pain. On an unknown date, the outcome of the fever, chills and general body pain were recovered/resolved and the outcome of the joint pain was not recovered/not resolved. It was unknown if the reporter considered the fever, chills, general body pain and joint pain to be related to Shingrix. Additional details were provided as follows: The reporter that the patient experienced fever, total body aches/joint pain and chills the day after receiving her second dose of Shingrix. The reporter further stated that these symptoms subsequently resolved, however, after approximately 1 week after receiving the vaccine, the joint pain localized into both hands. The reporter stated that the joint pain in the hands was described as a pain level 5 and had not resolved.

Symptomtext

Patient described having itching hives that looked irritated and caused discomfort after getting the influenza and shingles vaccines. She did not specify when the symptoms started. Recommended for patient to seek medical attention at the closest urgent care or hospital and gave her the address and office hours and offered to give recommendations for over the counter medications to treat the symptoms, however she refused and stated she preferred another to visit a physician.

1 WEEK OF FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AND JOINT PAIN AFTER DOSE. RESOLUTION OF FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS BUT CONTINUATION OF JOINT PAIN IN BOTH HANDS TO PRESENT 2/18/2022. DESCRIBED AS BILATERAL FINGER JOINT PAIN "LEVEL 5" IN ALL JOINTS OF THE FINGERS. PATIENT SELF-TREATED WITH HEAT AND OTC IBUPROFEN AND ACETAMINOPHEN WITHOUT RESOLUTION. CURRENTLY UNRESOLVED AT GREATER THAN 2 MONTHS POST VACCINE. PATIENT ADVISED TO FOLLOW UP WITH PCP FOR EVALUATION.

Symptomtext

Patient stated the next day she had severe redness in her arm that was vaccinated. It continued to spread down so her provider so he gave her an antibiotic shot and then prescribed on 11/23/21 cephalexin 1000mg twice daily for 10 days. Then a prednisone 40mg daily for 5 days on 11/30/21. Then on 12/10/21 he did another dose of cephalexin 1000mg twice daily for 10 days. She said her provider said she was lucky to keep her arm. Prior to administration we always alcohol swab the area and wait for it to dry. She said it was cellulitis.
