Dizziness Erythema Flushing Malaise Nausea Palpitations

Symptomtext

Patient developed sudden onset of facial flushing/redness, palpitations, nausea, dizziness following vaccination for influenza. Vaccination was given with Fluarix Quadrivalent Vaccine by GSK. Within the first five minutes of receiving the vaccine she began feeling ill. Patient was given IM bendaryl 25 mg and symptoms resolved.

Symptomtext

Per the patient: A few hours after I received the flu vaccination, I noticed I had a few itchy spots on my legs. I did not think anything of it, and I left work around 3:30 p.m. I was getting ready to go to the movies and I had become extremely itchy. I noticed my face started to feel warm and I just kept an eye on it. The movie I saw started at 7:30 and while I was in there, my entire body started itching and my lips became very tender to touch and swollen. I took 3 Benadryl and went to sleep. The next morning, I was covered in a rash, and I was still itching. I was seen by Urgent Care, and they gave me a shot of steroids. The physician also sent in a prescription for Prednisone to take for the next week.

Symptomtext

Patient scheduled her annual flu shot and completed her questionnaire/consent online through her health portal. Patient was asked by RN on arrival if she had received her flu shot for this flu season and patient stated No. After administering the flu vaccine, Nurse pulled up the patient's immunization record to print it and noticed that patient had received Fluzone Quadrivalent on 11/13/23 (Lot # U8192AA, Left Deltoid). When patient was told that she had, in fact, already received her flu vaccine, she was very apologetic stating that she forgot that she had come in to get the vaccine. This nurse spoke with patient 12/5/23 who denied any adverse reactions of affect from 2nd vaccine.
