Symptomtext

It began with feet and toes going numb / painful / stiff/pins and needles / paralysis / neuropathy; these same symptoms also spread to the hands and was rapidly followed by severe balance and coordination issues. I was admitted to Hospital and eventually diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Hospital course was IVIG, lumbar puncture, MRIs, respiratory tests, urological tests, many neurological test, EKGs, nerve induction test, urinalysis, many blood draws, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech services and other tests and treatments I don't recall. I was eventually discharged to hospitalized rehabilitation, followed by physical therapy occupational therapy and speech therapy at home and then eventually outpatient physical therapy occupational therapy and speech services which I am still attending. Multiple issues have manifested/not resolved.

He vomited several times and spiked a fever of 104 degrees. He took ibuprofen for symptoms - he did not seek medical care. Symptoms began to subside after 12 pm. He still had a fever but that went away by morning. He continued to feel weak and nauseaus for a couple of days.

Tender, tight and red and hot to touch., Small hives on cheek and forehead and under right axilla that come and go. Given oral Benadryl q 6 hrs and no change today so prescription given for oral steroids Orapred bid x 5 days. breathing ok a referred to allergist, child has had flu vaccine 2021 without issue. still swollen today no change but has not started steroids yet.

The LEFT arm hurt and was a little hot...(The arm that the PneumoVax23 was given in) at around 24 hours it was noticeably very red and hot to the touch, I drew a line around it with a pen and took pictures. it extended from my deltoid to my biceps . by 36 hours it was more red and swollen. I iced it and took Advil. When I woke up that next morning the swelling had gone down and it started to feel better so I did not seek medical attention for it. I did not think it was an "emergency" that needed attention on a weekend night shift.

I developed shingles just a couple of days after receiving the two vaccines (diagnosed by my primary care doctor 2 days after rash started). My shingles covers my entire left arm (the arm I received the Covid booster in). While I know it is not likely that the vaccine caused the shingles, it seems like maybe both vaccines at once (along with being a new parent and being sleep deprived) was just too much for my immune system to keep shingles from occurring. I was started on VALACYCLOVIR HCL 1 GRAM 3x per day for 7 days. My doctor expects a routine course of shingles with full recovery in a few weeks.
