Symptomtext
I got my second Moderna booster for COVID-19 on 4/5/2022. On the afternoon of 6/28/2022, I started getting a sore throat. I also had a lot of nasal congestion, nasal swelling, fatigue, runny nose, a dry cough, and sneezing. I took an at-home test for COVID-19, which yielded a negative result. That evening, I had a temperature of 100 degrees. I felt woozy and feverish, plus I still had the aforementioned symptoms. I also had trouble sleeping that night. On 6/29/2022 and 6/30/2022, my temperature remained at 100; I took one Advil, which kept it at that temperature. My cough was so severe that I was gagging at some points, even though the cough was dry. I also lost my appetite on 6/29/2022, though my senses of taste and smell were not affected. On 6/29/2022, I underwent a PCR test; the result was positive. On the evening of 6/29/2022, my temperature to 101.2. I took an Advil for that. I was still having trouble sleeping at this point. When I woke up on 6/30/2022, my temperature was 100 and remained there; I took another Advil to keep it from rising. That morning, I called my doctor's office to let them know about my positive test result and symptoms and inquired about getting Paxlovid. Later that afternoon, I obtained a 5-day course of Paxlovid. I took my first dose at about 8 PM that night. The main side effect from the Paxlovid is that I experienced a bitter, metallic taste on my tongue; this lasted normally between 1-8 hours after taking a dose each time. On 7/1/2022, my fever finally broke after I took the second dose of Paxlovid that day. The nasal congestion and swelling also completely vanished. My cough also became very productive, so I was able to expel the mucus that had caused my congestion. I felt much better afterwards. However, I developed two new symptoms on the morning of 7/1/2022. I experienced frequent bowel movements (not diarrhea), which were light-colored. This resolved after 2 or 3 days. I also developed an extremely sore throat. I took honey-lemon cough drops and warm tea. I also drank plenty of water. Over the course of that morning, my throat began to feel better. At that point, I still didn't have an appetite, though I ate as much as I could tolerate. On the night of 7/1/2022, I finally slept very well. On 7/2/2022, my taste was back to normal, though I still didn't have much of an appetite, so I decided to wait until after breakfast to take the Paxlovid. That morning, I woke with a sore throat, which had returned. However, with cough drops and hot tea, it got better. I was able to have dinner without experiencing the foul taste I had before, and I took my evening dose of Paxlovid at about 10 PM. On 7/3/2022, my sore throat had resolved and my appetite was improved. However, I was still having a frequent productive cough. On 7/4/2022, I continued to have a productive cough, though it was less frequent. I also regained more of my appetite and felt more energetic. On 7/4/2022, I took another at-home test for COVID-19. It yielded a positive result, though the indicative line was very faint. On 7/5/2022, I took my last dose of Paxlovid. I had much less coughing. I took another at-home test that day, and I finally got a negative result. However, on 7/5/2022, I experienced another issue I hadn't had before. That day, I decided to walk 2.5 blocks to go run errands. As I did this, I was overcome by extreme lethargy, and my neck and back became very achy from my standing and walking. I returned home and rested, and I felt better afterwards. At the time of this writing, I feel mostly fine, but I still don't have close to my normal level of energy. This has affected my ability to do even the minor tasks. This concerns me, as I'm wondering if I will ever regain my normal energy level. I still have a little bit of phlegm, but I'm not having trouble with sneezing, coughing, or congestion. Also, my sense of taste and my appetite are now fine.
