Symptomtext

The patient fainted after receiving both influenza and COVID. He was out for less than 1 minute. He became conscious and I placed him lying down on the floor with his feet elevated. He requested diet Coke over apple juice. He requested Fritos chips also. He was sweating and clammy. He was groggy speaking but kept saying we wanted to take a nap. About 30 minutes later I checked is vitals BP 133/73 and HR 47 at 11:45am. I then called the Urgent Care and then 2 nurses came down by then we had a wheelchair to put him in. He was then transported to clinic for observation. The patient did state he worked out prior to coming in for vaccination and he skipped breakfast.

Symptomtext

The vaccine reaction began later that same evening, manifesting as intense bone pain in both feet. Subsequently, on the following day, the pain extended to the hands, feet, and back. The treatment this far has been a course of steroids, Benadryl. So far there has not been any relief of this severe pain. The vaccine was given on 10/03/2023 and remains severe as of today 10/13/2023.

Weakness, unable to walk on their own, elavated blood pressure and heart rate. Treatment: extended monitoring, standard treatment for syncope. Husband was called for assistance and recommended trip to emergency room. Recomended rest and time off work. Patient's place of employment will give 2 days to recover.

The patient was inadvertently given the afluria vaccine, which is meant for individuals 3 years and older, despite only being 2 years old. I have tried to contact the patient's parents to determine if there are any adverse events from this but I have not been able to get through to them and they have not called back.
