Patient came to pharmacy and complained of radiating pain to the back and shoulder. There was redness and swelling in her upper arm. She showed the pharmacist both of her arms and there was a clear difference between the two. Patient went to the doctor a couple of times but doctor did not prescribe anything. Pharmacist she spoke to suggested ice and perhaps seeing a doctor for steroids to suppress the inflammation. Patient took Advil to help with the pain. Patient returned to pharmacy a few days later with prescription for Medrol dosepack and notified the pharmacist on duty that her doctor diagnosed her with nerve damage. She says this was caused by a vaccination that was administered too low on her arm.
